Board Meetings
Board meetings are held monthly January-May and September- November on the second Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the Library. Meetings are open to the public. If a board meeting lands on a holiday it will be held on the following Monday. 

Minutes for the March 10 meeting will be approved on April 21.

Curtis called the meeting to order at 5:32p.m. with 5 members present.  The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved with a motion made by Stacy and seconded by Michelle. 
Michelle reported a total of $52,280.46 in all accounts.  Tina made a motion to accept this report and to pay all outstanding bills. George seconded and the motion was passed.
Jeana shared that during the past month there had been 63 patron visits, 101 checkouts, and 5 reference questions.  There were several new acquisitions made to the book collection: 9 adult, 1 young adult, and 21 to the children's department
In unfinished business, Jeana stated that her informational presentation to the Wellsville-Middletown faculty concerning the new web page was changed to March 10.
There were 15 kindergarten students and 3 adults present for the kindergarten class visit to the library.
Jean shared a bit of the history of our library, showed them photographs of its earlier days and read a book to the class.
In new business: The State Library has distributed information concerning cyber security that will need to be added to the Library Operations Manual. The information to be included was read to board members 
Work continues on preparations for the Summer Reading Program.  Jeana will be sharing announcements about the program with the local newspaper and school students.
Jeana shared the proposed budget for the upcoming year.  George made a motion to accept the proposal and Stacy seconded.  The motion passed.
In the election of officers for the new operating year, George moved to have all present officers retain their positions.  Stacy seconded and the motion was passed.
Stacy made a motion to adjourn the meeting with George seconding.  The motion passed and Curtis adjourned the meeting at 5:51p.m.

Curtis called the meeting to order at 5:31p.m.  The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved with a motion made Michelle and seconded by Stacy.
Michelle reported a total of $52,296.09 in all accounts.  George made a motion to accept this report and to pay all bills. Stacy seconded and the motion passed.
Jeana stated that there had been 124 items checked out, 64 patron visits, and 12 reference questions during the past month.
A check for $50.00 was received from the Lutheran Church Women's group.  Jeana will be placing this check in the Summer Reading Account.
3 new adult books were added to the collection.
Due to the inclement weather in January, Jeana's presentation on the Library Web Page to the Wellsville Faculty has been rescheduled  for March 3, 2025.  
The Kindergarten class will be visiting on March 4, 2025.
Jeana is working on the Annual Survey To The City of Wellsville which is due in April.  She is also working on the budget.
The interest earned in 2024 on the Toulouse Account CD was $101.09 and the CD #1 earned $156.27.
The Dollar General grant application has been submitted.
George moved  to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Michelle.  Motion passed and the meeting was adjourned by Curtis at 5:42p.m.

Wellsville Missouri Public Library Board Minutes

January 13, 2025

The meeting was called to order by Tessa at 5:31p.m.  The minutes from the November 18, 2024 meeting were read and approved with a motion made by Stacy and seconded by Curtis.

 

The Treasurer's Report was provided by Jeana which showed a balance of $38,811.67 for November and $40,567.38 in December.  Curtis made a motion to accept the report and to pay all bills.  The motion was seconded by George.  Motion passed.

 

In her report to the board, Jeana stated that during November there were 182 checkouts, 92 patron visits, and 9 reference questions. . There were 10 adults, 5 teens and 32 additions made to the book collection.  In December there were 101 checkouts, 77 patron visits, and 17 reference questions.  9 adult and 4 children's books added.  There were 91 picture books and 2 non-fiction books deleted from the shelves.

 

In new business Jeana reported that work has begun on applying for the Dollar General Grant which would be used in support of the Summer Reading Program.  It is due February 10, 2025.

 

Studere Club and First Steps have reserved space for their meetings during the next few weeks.

The weeding out of picture books has been completed.  At the present time work is proceeding with weeding through early chapter books.

 

On February 3, 2025 Jeana will be presenting the new Library Web page to the Wellsville teachers during their workshop day.

 

During the week of January 6-10, Jena was unable to open the Library due to the snow.  

Several attempts were made to scoop a safe path to the front door but it was determined that too much snow remained at the curb for people to safely make their way from their cars into the building.

 

Curtis made a motion to pay Jena her regular salary for the four days the Library remained closed in January due to the deep snow.  George seconded the motion.  The motion was approved.

 

Stacy moved to adjourn the meeting and George seconded.  Motion passed.  Tessa adjourned the meeting at 5:43p.m.
